When to Get Consulted by a Physiotherapist for Treatment of Back Pain & How to Reduce Your Pain

Back pain happens because of overlapping of tendons, muscles and other tissues, stress in common joints, and the nerve roots that travel from lower back down to the legs. Pain may be chronic, it may be sharp or dull ache.

Back Pain Causes by Age

Younger people of age 30to 60 years are more likely to adapt back pain than elder people because of their habits like no exercising, sitting and working, mostly stuck to bed, smoking etc.

Whereas older people are likely to suffer pain form joints problem or fracture.

In most of the cases back pain does not require an urgent treatment since it gets normal after few days but patients should always refer to a physiotherapist if they experience back pain due to the following reasons:

  • Fever and chills
  • Sudden loss in weight

Symptoms: back pain is in younger adults is mainly caused due to lifting of heavy objects.

These back pain symptoms include any combination of the following:

  • Difficulty moving, standing or walking
  • Pain that does travels to the leg but keep moving between the buttocks and the knees.
  • Pain that is dull and achy.
  • Muscle spasms, which can be severe

Exercise is the best friend of back ache.

Exercising regularly can help you to reduce back ache or lower back pain along with stress, tension and stiffness. These exercises will help you to strengthen your back and make your body more flexible but it should be done only under the supervision of a physiotherapist.

Improve Flexibility; a tensed and a tight body can lead to back pain therefore be flexible

  • Keep moving and stay active:

One must not be lazy and always stuck to their bed or chair. You should be physically active with your daily tasks. Stay busy and keep moving for some or the other work to avoid back pain.

  • Keep Exercising:

Exercising plays an essential role it is one of the best medicine for Back Pain Exercises. It enhances your sitting posture and helps your body to sit in upright position.  When you work out in a gym you tend to have body pain at times which keeps building up for years so make sure you don’t strain your back too much.

  • Maintain Good Posture:

Leaning your body for too long for example while gardening, you may harm your body posture which could lead to back pain. So please make sure than you do not bend tour body for a very long period. Small things can affect your back like if you’re leaning too much over the sink while brushing your teeth you must take care of the amount of curvature in the back to avoid pressure on the back.

  • See a physiotherapist:

Taking a pain killer for back pain won’t help. Some patients need to take good care of their back problem they require back strengthening exercises which help in flexibility and toning

  • Strengthen Your Core muscles:

It is beneficial for you to have stronger abdominal muscles it helps to reduce strain on the lower back.

  • Apply Ice and Heat:

If you have back pain you must apply heating or cold packs in order to relax your muscles if there is swelling. Most of the doctors recommend using these packs for the first 48 hours after the injury.

  • Sleep the Right Way:

Sleeping in a wrong position can cause trouble for you. Even if you sleep without the mattress without support you will suffer from back pain. If you have back ache you must pot a pillow under your knees to get relief .if sleeping sideways then place pillows between their knees to keep your spine in a neutral position. If Stomach sleeping causes the neck and head to twist and can put undue stress on the back.

  • Quit Smoking:

Smoking not only affects your lungs but you’re back too. Lighting up doesn’t just damage your lungs; it can also hurt your back. Smokers are more likely to have back ache than to the people who don’t smoke, because of Nicotine the small blood vessels constrict and decrease the delivery of blood to the tissue.

  • Stressed or tensed:

If you are thing too much or taking too much stress may be because of work, family issues or whatsoever it causes depression and anxiety which leads to back pain. Therefore you must talk about your issues and solve them out .to help yourself to get rid of Back Pain Exercises.

Be active and try to be occupied or busy so that you are physically active.

Our little every activities like leaning down while brushing, bending continuously while gardening etc. Can affect our lives.  Thanks to the physical therapies and strengthening exercises which help to get relief from back pain. But one must make sure to consult a doctor when in pain instead of taking painkillers it’s always good to exercise and eliminate your back pain.
