Tipping your head from one side to another is a great exercise which could help relieve many common types of neck and shoulder pain.

You must sit straight and must keep your gaze forward. Slowly you must lower the right ear towards the right shoulder.

This will result in stretching of the left side of the neck and when repeated for around five to six times it could provide the required relief. You should hold on to the same position for only 20 to 30 seconds.

Simple Stretching Exercises


Rotating Head From Side To Side


Rotating your head from one side to another can also help relieve neck sprains but it has to be done carefully so that you do not end up worsening the situation.

You must sit in an upright position and look straight. You must then turn the head slowly to the right as much as possible and remain in that position for around 30 seconds.

Then you must bring your head back to the original position. You must then turn your head to the left and reach as much distance as you can cover comfortable.

This process should be done for both sides of the head and must be repeated four or five times.


Raising And Lowering Head


This is a pretty simple exercise and can be done even when you are in the office or doing some works. You must sit straight and raise and lower your head. Lowering your chin towards the chest is all that you should do.

You must then bring back your head to the normal position and repeat this stretching exercise four or five times. However, while doing this exercise you must avoid heavy jerks failing which you could end up straining and spraining the backside of the neck.


These are some common stretching exercises which could help in reducing pain and stress in the neck and shoulder areas. However, care must be taken not to overdo the exercises failing which it could create more problems than solutions.
